Sarah Bird is the author of eight novels, including The Yokota Officers Club, The Boyfriend School, The Flamenco Academy, and The Gap Year. She is a columnist for Texas Monthly and her articles and essays have appeared in Oprah’s O Magazine, NY Times Sunday Magazine, Real Simple, Mademoiselle, Salon, Cosmopolitan, and other publications. She has written screenplays for Paramount, CBS, Warner Bros, National Geographic, ABC, TNT, Hemdale Studio, and independent producers. Her many awards include a Dobie-Paisano Fellowship; a National Magazine Award; Elle Magazine Readers Prize; Barnes & Noble Discover Great Writers; SW Critics Best Novel of the Year; Texas Institute of Letters Award for Best Work of Fiction (twice); Writers League of Texas Award of Literary Merit, Library Journal Best Books 2011, Houston Chronicle 2011 Bookish Pick, Austin Chronicle Best Author 2011; and the 2011 APL Fiction List.
