A Hill Country Christmas with Pierce Pettis
Studio Concert Series: A Hill Country Christmas with Pierce Pettis
Thursday, December 10, 2009

Happy holidays everybody. Here’s hoping they are joyful ones for you. Thanks for all the kind support we receive continually from the community and our volunteers. Enjoy these photos by Rodney Bursiel and video highlights from A Hill Country Christmas (thanks to our wonderful tech team David S. Duke, Adam Brisbin, Forrest Arnold, and our chief engineer Keith Gary).
Artists in-the-round featuring Pierce Pettis along with Grace Pettis, and Billy Crockett. Traditional carol singing. It’s the holidays, Blue Rock Style.
Pierce Pettis is a legendary songwriter and long time friend of Blue Rock. In June of 2006, he performed the very first concert in Blue Rock’s Texas Room to a sold out audience. He has published works in The Blue Rock Review, and performed on our stage in April 2008 with The New Agrarians. Anyone familiar with Pierce knows that his songs reach across time and around the globe (Joan Baez, Art Garfunkel, and Garth Brooks all have Pettis-penned tunes on their albums). The nine albums of his acclaimed solo artist career date back to 1984. Performing Songwriter magazine calls Pierce “...one of the more vital and critically acclaimed folk stars of recent years.” Now, in 2009, Pierce has a stunning new record out, That Kind of Love, released on Compass Records in January. To add a splash of Christmas spirit, his daughter, the arresting new artist Grace Pettis, will join the circle on stage. Grace’s self titled first album, recorded at Blue Rock and produced by Billy Crockett, is just released. In Blue Rock tradition, Billy will be joining them onstage with Christmas songs, as well as gems from his new release Wishing Sky. It’s a great thrill to welcome back Pierce for the most popular annual event at Blue Rock…A Hill Country Christmas!

Ceci Zuniga says:
As always, Blue Rock created a warm-hearted, cheer-filled, belly-laughing good time Friday night to temper the business of this beautiful season. Thank you Billy, Dodee, Pierce, Grace, and all the “behind the scenes folks” who make it all happen just so us country folk can enjoy a night of greatness… Peace in your hearts and hoods.
