Jimmy LaFave
Studio Concert Series: Jimmy LaFave
Thursday, May 1, 2008
It was a classic LaFave evening full of soul, friends, and great music. Jimmy performed tunes from his recent Cimarron Manifesto and gave us a beautiful tribute to the late Bob Childers, including a sweet new original and a telling of Bob’s own Restless Spirits. The band included Bryan Peterson (keys), Glenn Schuetz (bass), and John Inmon on guitar. Enjoy these photos by Rodney Bursiel.
Jimmy’s been busy since he was last with us in February of 2007. Besides a relentless North American touring schedule, Jimmy released his eleventh studio album, Cimarron Manifesto, which has been hailed by critics as “a dusky, beautifully framed snapshot of the heartland.” (Pasadena Weekly)
The “red dirt romantic” delivers originals that range from heart-breaking ballads to full on blues rock tunes and turns old favorites into home-spun Texas gold.
Jimmy has twice been named Austin’s best singer/songwriter, was invited to sing at The Woody Guthrie Tribute at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and has appeared on the internationally acclaimed Austin City Limits.
Thanks to Jimmy LaFave and his amazing band for a great return visit to Blue Rock Studio!
