Opening Day
Special Event: Opening Day
Friday, March 17, 2006
April 17, 2006, Wimberley, TX — Opening day at Blue Rock was a beautiful success. Guests consumed 500 tamales, listened to Jimmy LaFave, Terri Hendrix, Lloyd Maines, and Gretchen Peters together in the round, talked with Mr. Rupert Neve in the control room, and were amazed by the jazz piano performance of Pamela York. It was an unforgettable convergence of music artists, producers, and engineers from everywhere. A highlight of the day came when we realized Croatian accordionist Radislav Lorkavic and famed Austin guitarist John Inmon were sitting in with the songwriters’ circle. Another was a visit from Michael Brauer, New York mix engineer for Coldplay and Paul McCartney. We also had encounters with David Hough of Austin City Limits and Texas legends engineer, Bobby Arnold. In the control room we heard live multitrack mixes and saw live video feeds from simultaneous performances. Great fun! Let’s do it again.
